Well, we did it!!! Today was the orphanage visit and our day started out early only because we had to be downstairs in the lobby at 8:00 am. EG did good though last night she slept from 600pm till this morning at 6:30am. I think that maybe her being awake past her nap time and waking up at 3:30 am has caught up with her!!!! Our orphanage is 3 1/2 hrs south of Guangzhou. Today the weather was good very humid and around 65-68 degrees outside. We had one other couple that went with us because their orphanage was 2 hrs the same direction. So Rebecca went with us to do the translating....praise the Lord!!!!! EG did pretty good for a 15 1/2 mth old the whole trip. But it was very emotionally and physically tiring. When we got to the orphanage the male and female directors met us at the front lobby and showed us the conference room and then upstairs to where Eg lived the first 14 1/2 months of her life. The surrounding look very sterile and everything there is white and concrete looking. We got to see where she slept and her crib buddy. They did allow us to take some pictures. The one picture is of EG and her best friend or crib mate. The directors told Rebecca that they hope that we feed her enough and not just sweet treats and crackers. I guess I have already goofed on that....I have been giving her gerber puffs and some juice treats!!!! Oh well!!!! After we did the visit(approx maybe 15 minutes) the woman director took us to the finding spot. Wow it is a very populated area and I know now why she was left there. She could not be missed and we thank the Lord for that!!!! For such a long trip the whole visit maybe lasted 30 minutes at the most!!!! But worth every minute of the trip!!!!! We then went to eat and on the way back visited the other couples orphanage.
I know this post is relatively short but it was very emotional and a lot to write if I expressed everything we felt today!!!!
Love to everyone and be home soon!!!!
Truly Blessed!!!
We are so glad you are back and made it through the day. Our prayers were with you all through our night (you day). :) Love to you all!!
ReplyDeleteI read on the Poma family's site, and saw your photo and said "I know that baby!!!" The orphanage visit was perhaps the hardest thing I did on Katie's adoption...just so hard to think about.
